My name is... well, I'm not going to tell you my name*, but I am not a confident 21st centurion.
For this reason, I have decided to start a blog to tell people of my happenings and mis-happenings (yes, I just invented a word because that is okay in the 21st century) and the lessons they teach me in the hopes that they will help others in their confusing lives.
I considered starting this blog a while ago but then i thought "Wait a minute Brad - your life isn't interesting enough." And I was right. But then i remembered - self-loathing is very popular in the 21st century. It's made a massive comeback since the Romantic era thanks especially to the Goth** and Grunge** movements of the 1980s and 1990s. The remnants of these movements that we see today, the dreaded 'emo' music of the 21st century is something that I have trouble coping with. I will probably devote a post to this in the future.
The 21st century is a scary one - blah blah blah technology, blah blah blah, SOCIETY, blah blah blah TERRORISM, blah blah blah CLIMATE CHANGE***, blah blah blah some other shit.
How the hell do we know what we're meant to be dealing with here? Well, I seek not to answer that question (it's bigger than you, I AND the elephant in the room) but to perhaps offer ways in which you can avoid answering it.
Already this blog has taken a turn for the serious which I didn't really want to take. For the most part I will be offering little parts of my life that perhaps have broader meaning in fields relating to the struggle that is life in this western construct called society. Did you cringe just a little bit reading that? I did while I was writing it. I'm not the greatest writer nor do I profess to be the most intelligent person I or anybody else knows. But hey, here's my opinion and if you don't like it, what are you doing reading this?
I appreciate you.
There is probably more I wanted to say but I'm tired and my eyes hurt - I sound like an old man and I'm only 19 - welcome to me in the 21st century.
blah blah blah western world
blah blah blah civil society
blah blah blah john fucking stuart mill.
*Mysteries are in vogue these days, people. They always have been. When I was a kid I was fascinated by the sinking of the Titanic. Then I found out that Leonardo Di Caprio died on it.
**I capitalized them because they were important... pronouns are important.
***Climate Change IS important. don't forget that kids.
